Midnight of New Year's Day found me in Italy, in the fishing village of Talamone on the coast of the Maremma Toscana; I returned home to Chicago on the 10th.

January 1
Yesterday: visit of Grosseto and Roselle and wandering thru the Maremma with a pit stop in Saturnia. Today: walk thru Talamone, then visit Orbetello, Punta Ala, Vetulonia and Massa Marittima. A very good dinner in Calambrone.
January 2
Day trip to Volterra.

Yesterday: visited San Gimignano and had dinner with a friend of Stefano's at her house. Today, San Miniato al Tedesco.
January 5
Continued report of yesterday's visit of San Miniato and the drive back to Milan during which I saw a double rainbow.
January 6
Yesterday I spent a few hours in the Castello Sforzesco of Milan.
January 8
On the 6th we went to Mendrisio, in Ticino canton, Switzerland, for a few hours. Yesterday: visited churches in Milan.
January 9
Winding down my stay in Milan.
January 10
Yesterday was my last full day in Milan: I spent it shopping, mostly. Today I fly back home to Chicago.
