The last two titles, abbreviated in reference notes as Quasi‑War and Barbary Wars, respectively, are indispensable to a work of this kind. Well planned and executed, they have brought to my desk a great deal of source material that otherwise would have been difficult and expensive to collect. Their value to me has been inestimably great.
