Military History. — Cadet at the Military Academy, July 1, 1837, to July 1, 1841, when he was graduated and promoted in the Army to

Second Lieut., 8th Infantry, July 1, 1841.

 p95  Served: in garrison at Ft. Columbus, N. Y., 1841; and in the Florida War, 1841‑42.

Resigned, Oct. 10, 1842.

Civil History. — Teacher of Mathematics, St. Thomas's Hall, Mis., 1844‑45. Professor of Mathematics and Civil Engineering, University of Louisiana, 1847‑61.

Joined in the Rebellion of 1861‑66 against the United States.​a

Civil History. — Professor of Mathematics, University of Mississippi, since 1865; and of Civil Engineering, 1872‑74. Residence, Oxford, Mis.

Died, Feb. 15, 1891, at Oxford, Miss.: Aged 73.

Buried, Oxford Memorial Cemetery, Oxford, MS.
