Military History. — Cadet at the Military Academy, July 1, 1839, to July 1, 1843, when he was graduated and promoted in the Army to Bvt. Second Lieut., 6th Infantry, July 1, 1843. Served: on frontier duty at Ft. Towson, I. T., 1843‑45, — and Ft. (Second Lieut., 4th Infantry, May 9, 1846) Washita, I. T., 1845‑46. Resigned, Oct. 29, 1846. Civil History. — School Teacher in St. Louis County, Mo., 1847‑49, — in Ulster County, N. Y., 1849‑50, — at Port Ewen, 1853‑56, — and in Litchfield County, Ct., 1862‑63. Employed by the Pennsylvania Coal Company in various capacities, 1853‑56, and 1858‑61. Farmer, Ulster County, N. Y., 1850‑52, — and in Litchfield County, Ct., 1863 to 18—. Died, Apr. 20, 1889, at New York city: Aged 68. |
