Military History. — Cadet at the Military Academy, July 1, 1840, to July 1, 1845, when he was graduated and promoted in the Army to Bvt. Second Lieut., 1st Infantry, July 1, 1845. Served: on frontier duty at Ft. Leavenworth, Kan., 1845‑46, — and Camp Kearny, Mo., 1846; in the War with Mexico, 1846‑47, being engaged (Second Lieut., 4th Infantry, July 12, 1846) in the Siege of Vera Cruz, Mar. 9‑29, 1847, — Battle of Cerro Gordo, Apr. 17‑18, 1847, — Capture of San Antonio, Aug. 20, 1847, — Battle of Churubusco, Aug. 20, 1847, — and Battle of Molino del Rey,
(Bvt. First Lieut., Sep. 8, 1847, for Gallant and Meritorious Conduct
Sep. 8, 1847, where he was severely wounded; in garrison at Plattsburg (First Lieut., 4th Infantry, Nov. 24, 1847) Barracks, N. Y., 1849, 1850, — and Ft. Ontario, N. Y., 1850‑51; and on sick leave of absence, 1851‑52. Died, Apr. 15, 1852, at Pilatka, Fla.: Aged 32. |
