Second Lieut., Corps of Artillery, Apr. 20, 1817. Served in garrison at Ft. Mifflin, Pa., 1815‑18. Resigned, Apr. 30, 1818. Civil History. — Aide-de‑Camp to Major-General Street, Illinois Militia, 1822. Treasurer of the Illinois and Michigan Canal Company, 18— to 18—. Register of the U. S. Land Office, at Shawneetown, Ill., 18— to 1837. Died, 1837, at Shawneetown, Ill. |

a An unsourced page online finds a John Sloo, son of Thomas Sloo, born in Kentucky in 1793; since a Thomas Sloo was register of the Land Office at Shawneetown in 1816 (Buck, Illinois in 1818, p200), this is probably our man.
