Henry Astor Ehninger: Born December 1824. Military History. — Cadet at the Military Academy, July 1, 1842, to July 1, 1846, when he was graduated and promoted in the Army to Bvt. Second Lieut., 4th Artillery, July 1, 1846. Served: in the War with Mexico, 1846‑48, being engaged in the Siege (Second Lieut., 4th Artillery, Mar. 3, 1847) of Vera Cruz, Mar. 9‑29, 1847, — Battle of Cerro Gordo, Apr. 17‑18, 1847, — and Defense of Puebla, Sep. 13 to Oct. 12, 1847; and in garrison at Ft. Monroe, Va., 1848. Resigned, Jan. 6, 1849. Civil History. — Civil Engineer, since 1849, though from ill health he p277has been most of the time travelling in Europe. U. S. Consul, Cienfuegos, Cuba, 1887. Vol. IV Civil History. — Unknown. Vol. V Civil History. — U. S. Consul at Cienfuegos, Cuba, August, 1886, to August, 1894. — Residence, Havana, Cuba. Vol. VI (Henry Astor Ehninger, Born Dec. —, 1824.) Military History. — Second Lieut., 4th Artillery, March 3, 1847. Resigned, Jan. 6, 1849. Civil History. — U. S. Consul at Cienfuegos, Cuba, August, 1886, to August, 1894 since which time he resided in Cuba. Died Sept. 15, 1915, at Havana, Cuba: Aged 91.º Obituary notice in Annual Report, Association of Graduates, for 1916. |
