Henry Astor Ehninger: Born December 1824.

Military History. — Cadet at the Military Academy, July 1, 1842, to July 1, 1846, when he was graduated and promoted in the Army to

Bvt. Second Lieut., 4th Artillery, July 1, 1846.

Served: in the War with Mexico, 1846‑48, being engaged in the Siege

(Second Lieut., 4th Artillery, Mar. 3, 1847)

of Vera Cruz, Mar. 9‑29, 1847, — Battle of Cerro Gordo, Apr. 17‑18, 1847, — and Defense of Puebla, Sep. 13 to Oct. 12, 1847; and in garrison at Ft. Monroe, Va., 1848.

Resigned, Jan. 6, 1849.

Civil History. — Civil Engineer, since 1849, though from ill health he  p277 has been most of the time travelling in Europe. U. S. Consul, Cienfuegos, Cuba, 1887.
