Served: on frontier duty at Albuquerque, N. M., 1850‑51, — Ft. Defiance, N. M., 1851, — Ft. Worth, Tex., 1852‑53, — Ft. Leavenworth (Second Lieut., 2d Dragoons, Oct. 11, 1851) Kan., 1853, — Ft. Worth, Tex., 1853, — and Ft. Belknap, Tex., 1853‑54; on sick leave of absence, 1854‑57; on frontier duty at Ft. Leavenworth (First Lieut., 2d Dragoons, Mar. 3, 1855) Kan., 1857, — Utah Expedition, 1857‑59, — Quartermaster, 2d Dragoons, Aug. 4, 1858, to June 24, 1859, — and Ft. Laramie, Dak., 1859‑60; on Recruiting service, 1860‑61; and on leave of absence, 1861‑62. Captain, 2d Dragoons, May 9, 1861: 2d Cavalry, Aug. 3, 1861. Served during the Rebellion of the Seceding States, 1862, in Operations (Colonel, 1st Vermont Cavalry Volunteers, Feb. 14, 1862) in Shenandoah Valley. Died, Apr. 5, 1862, near Strasburg, Va.: Aged 35. |
