Davis, Tex., 1854, — Scouting, 1854, — Ft. Davis, Tex., 1854, — Scouting, 1854‑55, — (First Lieut., 8th Infantry, Sep. 4, 1855) Ft. Davis, Tex., 1855, — Ft. Bliss, Tex., 1856, — Scouting, 1856‑57, — and Ft. Davis, Tex., 1857; on Recruiting service, 1858‑59; and on Coast Survey, May 19, 1859, to Jan. 28, 1861. Resigned, Jan. 28, 1861. a As with other Confederate officers, Cullum's Register omits his war record: according to the Southern Historical Society Papers, in 1862 he was ranked Lieut.‑Colonel and served as Chief Commissary of Subsistence of the Army of Northern Virginia.
