Served: in garrison at Ft. Columbus, N. Y., 1853‑54, — and at Jefferson Barracks, Mo., 1854; on frontier duty at Ft. Ridgely, Min., 1854‑55, — March to Bent's Fort, Col., via Ft. Leavenworth, Kan., and thence to Ft. Gibson, I. T., 1855, — and at Ft. Smith Commissary Depot, Ark.,

(Second Lieut., 7th Infantry, Mar. 3, 1855)

1855‑57; in garrison at Newport Barracks, Ky., 1857‑58; on frontier

(First Lieut., 7th Infantry, Aug. 1, 1857)

duty at Ft. Leavenworth, Kan., 1858, — and on Utah Expedition, 1858‑60; and on Recruiting service, 1860‑62.

Captain, 7th Infantry, May 23, 1861.

Served during the Rebellion of the Seceding States, 1862: in garrison at Ft. Columbus, N. Y., Feb. to May, 1862; and in arrest, May to July, 1862.

Cashiered, July 9, 1862, for "Drunkenness on Duty."

Died, May 24, 1869, at Columbus, Ind.: Aged 37.​a

Buried, Columbus City Cemetery, Columbus, IN.
