Born Sep. 5, 1828, Kingston, TN. Military History. — Cadet at the Military Academy, Sep. 1, 1851, to July 1, 1855, when he was graduated and promoted in the Army to Bvt. Second Lieut. of Infantry, July 1, 1855. Served: in garrison at Ft. Columbus, N. Y., 1855, — and Ft. Monroe, (Second Lieut., 9th Infantry, Oct. 16, 1855) Va., 1855; and on frontier duty at Ft. Vancouver, Wash., 1856, — Yakima Expedition, 1856, — Ft. Simcoe, Wash., 1856‑58, — and in Scouting, 1858, being engaged in the Surprise of a party of Yakima Indians, where he was Killed, Aug. 15, 1858, on the Upper Yakima, Wash.: Aged 28. Buried, Oak Grove Cemetery, Hillsboro, IL. |
