Military History. — Cadet at the Military Academy, July 1, 1851, to July 1, 1856, when he was graduated and promoted in the Army to Second Lieut., 10th Infantry, Jan. 1, 1857.º Served on frontier duty at Ft. Snelling, Min., 1857, — and Utah Expedition, 1857‑61. Resigned, June 25, 1861. Joined in the Rebellion of 1861-66 against the United States.a Civil History. — Clerk of National Express and Transportation Company, 1866; and in Wells, Fargo & Co.'s Express Company, 1867‑85. Died, July 26, 1885, at Eureka, Cal.: Aged 50. |

a As with other Confederate officers, Cullum's Register omits his war record: according to the Southern Historical Society Papers he rose to the rank of Lieut.‑Colonel, and commanded the 10th Alabama Infantry, Wilcox's Brigade, Anderson's Division, 3d Corps, Army of Northern Virginia.
