Military History. — Cadet at the Military Academy, July 1, 1853, to July 1, 1857, when he was graduated and promoted in the Army to Bvt. Second Lieut. of Infantry, July 1, 1857. Served: in garrison at Ft. Columbus, N. Y., 1857‑58; and on frontier (Second Lieut., 7th Infantry, Apr. 20, 1858) (Transferred to 8th Infantry, Nov. 30, 1858) duty at Ft. Union, N. M. (sick), 1860, — Hatch's Ranch, N. M., 1860, — and Santa Fé, N. M., 1861. First Lieut., 8th Infantry, May 13, 1861. Resigned, Aug. 23, 1861. Joined in the Rebellion of 1861‑66 against the United States.a Died, Mar. 25, 1864, at Tuscaloosa, Ala.: Aged 31. Buried, Westview Cemetery, Jefferson City, TN. |
a As with other Confederate officers, Cullum's Register omits his war record. It may have been brief, if in fact he did serve in the Confederate Army: the Southern Historical Society Papers are silent as well.
