Served: at the Cavalry School for Practice, Carlisle, Pa., 1858‑59;

(Second Lieut., 1st Dragoons, Mar. 29, 1859)

on frontier duty at Ft. Crook, Cal., 1859‑60, being engaged in a Skirmish near Ft. Crook, Cal., Aug. 15, 1859, — and Ft. Churchill, Nev., 1860‑61; and on leave of absence, 1861.

First Lieut., 1st Dragoons, Apr. 26, 1861.

Resigned, May 13, 1861.

Joined in the Rebellion of 1861-66 against the United States.a

Died, June 25, 1864, of Wounds received in the Battle of Piedmont, Va.: Aged 30.

Thayer's Note:

a As with other Confederate officers, Cullum's Register omits his war record: according to the Southern Historical Society Papers he served as Asst. Adjutant-General on the staff of Lieutenant-General Indicates a West Point graduate and gives his Class.Polk (of the Army of Mississippi and the Army of Tennessee), with the rank of Major.
