Major-General McDowell, Sep. 27, 1870, to Aug. 9, 1874 (leave of absence in Europe, June 20, 1871, to June 20, (First Lieut., 4th Cavalry, Apr. 21, 1872) 1872), at New York, headquarters Department of the East, to May 26, 1873, — and on Yellowstone Expedition, to Nov., 1873; and on leave of absence, to Sep. 29, 1874.
