Civil History. — Engaged in farming and breeding of live stock in Iowa, 1895 to August, 1899, when he moved to Bardstown, Ky., where he took up same occupation and has continued to present time; Vice-President and General Manager of H. Sutherland Co., Distillers; Vice-President and Director of Peoples Bank of Bardstown; Vice-President and member of Executive Committee of Insurance Co.; tendered his services to the Government at outbreak of War with Spain and again at outbreak of World War, but tender was not accepted.
