Military History. — Cadet at the Military Academy, July 1, 1828, to July 1, 1832, when he was graduated and promoted in the Army to Bvt. Second Lieut., 2d Artillery, July 1, 1832. Served: in garrison at Augusta Arsenal, Ga., 1832‑33; and in the Cherokee Nation, 1833. Resigned, Aug. 31, 1833. Civil History. — Counselor at Law, N. Y., 1835, — and in Michigan and Illinois, 1835‑46. p514 Military History. — Served on voyage to the Pacific, and in California during War with Mexico, as Captain, 1st New York Volunteers, Aug. 1, 1846, till he was Disbanded, Aug. 15, 1848. Civil History. — Counselor at Law in California, 1848‑51. Member of the House of Representatives of the State of California, 1849‑50. Major-General, California Militia, 1850‑51. Died, Jan. 25, 1855, at Rock Island, Ill.: Aged 42. |
