Secretary of the Senate of the State of Alabama, 1838‑39. Attorney of Alabama for the State Branch Bank at Mobile, 1841‑42. Captain, Alabama Militia, 1838‑39, and 1841‑46. Colonel, 1st Alabama Volunteers, raised for Mexican War, June 5, 1846, but disbanded soon after being mustered into service. Cotton Factor and Commission Merchant, Mobile, Ala., 1841‑46.
