San Claudio

[image ALT: A wall painting of a robed man, haloed and wearing a sort of scarf draped from the top of his head around one side to his neck; he holds in his right hand a combination hammer and pick, and in his left a T‑square. It is a 15c fresco of St. Claudius in the church of S. Claudio in Spello, Umbria (central Italy).]

St. Claudius: a particularly unpleasant 15c depiction, with mason's square and pick-axe. School of Foligno, easily identifiable by the background in imitation of brocade.

Spello, church of S. Claudio: N side of the nave, E side of the first pillar.
