S. Cecilia di Acquasparta

[image ALT: A coat of arms on the centre on an archway, supported by two angels with trumpets, all of it executed in plaster. It is a detail of the church of S. Cecilia in Acquasparta, Umbria (central Italy).]

In the center of the triumphal arch before the main altar, the princely arms of the house of Cesi are crowned by angels; the patron saint of church and town is reduced to an allusion: Cecilia, patroness of music of course.

The exterior is very plain: Renaissance in front, and Romanesque around the back, with a few rough capitals of mild interest.

The interior of S. Cecilia, redone in what looks to me like the 18c — giving us a rather sober space with some good stucco — houses a few works of art.
