S. Francesco di Acquasparta

[image ALT: A one-story stone church, the ground floor of which has only a simple round-arched door. It is topped with a plain triangular pediment; a small round window pierces the lower part of the pediment and the upper part of the ground story beneath it. It is a view of the façade of the church of S. Francesco in Acquasparta, Umbria (central Italy).]

The façade of S. Francesco: late 13c.

At the time of my last visit to Acquasparta in the spring of 2004, I was unable to do more than circle the church from the outside: S. Francesco was undergoing restoration, and was quite closed.

For next time then, the remnants of the cloister, the ancient altar (said to be quite elegant), the 15c Crucifix.
