LXXXI

Mater erat Tellus, genitor est ipse Prometheus;
Auriculaeque regunt geminatae ventre cavato;
Dum misere cecidi, divisit me mea mater.

Peck:

From Earth and Fire I my being gain,
My double ears and hollow belly reign,
Me, when I fell, my mother broke in twain.

Ohl:

My mother was Earth, my father is Prometheus himself; and my ear-like handles control me wreathed round with hollow belly. When luckless I fell, my mother mangled me.
