Silchester

As Roger J. A. Wilson remarks in his guidebook, "To attempt to give coherent directions to the most famous of all Romano-British towns, Silchester, is virtually impossible." Lost in a maze of secluded country lanes, Calleva Atrebatum, as it was called by the Romans, never was developed and is deserted still, a solitary reminder of Britain's Roman past.
