The last of the twelve battles listed by Nennius, the battle of Mount Badon has been associated with the Iron Age hill forts at Badbury Rings in Dorset, Liddington Castle (south of Swindon), and Solsbury Hill (north of Bath). Geoffrey of Monmouth, for example, places Arthur's victory over the Saxons at Bath. Mentioned, as well, in The Annals of Wales, it was a real battle, fought early in the sixth century between native Britons and Anglo-Saxons, although where is not known.
