Return to the Celtiberian War

Soria

The defiance of the Numantines was to be their lasting glory. Around the semicircular edifice of the Plaze de España in Seville are fifty-eight benches, each decorated with glazed ceramic tiles representing a province of Spain and an event from its history. The azulejo decoration for Soria, the country's smallest provincial capital, depicts the inhabitants of Numantia killing themselves and burning their town rather than surrender to the Romans.
