Return to Roman Spain

Tarragona

By the early empire, the province of Hispania Citerior had been expanded and renamed. Tarraconensis now was the largest of the three Spanish provinces, which included Baetica and Lusitania, and had as its capital, Tarragona (Tarraco). The seaside theater is shown here. But there are equally impressive ruins outside the city, including the Arco de Berà and the Acueducto de Les Ferreres.
