Return to Canes
This playful hound is depicted on a beaker in the Corinium Museum (Cirencester). Corinium was the second largest town in Roman Britain, only slightly smaller than London itself.
Another image in samian ware, has a similar motif. This red-gloss pot, which is in the British Museum, was imported from Gaul, although it also was manufactured in Colchester for a brief time and distributed locally.
