Return to Canes
This playful hound is depicted on a beaker in the Corinium Museum (Cirencester). Corinium was the second largest town in Roman Britain, only slightly smaller than London itself.
Another image in samian ware, which is in the British Museum, has a similar motif. This red-gloss pot was imported from Gaul, although samian ware also was manufactured in Colchester for a brief time and distributed locally.
