The principal approach to the Capitol, the Clivus Capitolinus begins at the Arch of Tiberius as a continuation of the Via Sacra, passes around the Temple of Saturn, which can be seen in the background, and ascends in front of the Porticus Deorum Consentium to the summit of the Capitoline hill.
