Return to Severans

The Baths of Caracalla

"Among the public works which he left at Rome was the notable bath named after himself."

Historia Augusta: Life of Antoninus Caracalla (IX.4; also Life of Elegabalus, XVI.8)

It only is appropriate, given the fondness of Sir Lawrence Alma-Tadema for the Severans, to include his Baths of Caracalla (1899).
