In September 1997, I was living in the Italian town of Spello and walking around east central Umbria with occasional small train trips outside Umbria, to Rome and elsewhere.
The more interesting entries are on darker backgrounds.
Continue to get acquainted with
Spello; visit the church of
S. Claudio.
Walk to the outskirts of Foligno to the offices of an Internet service provider.
Brief entry, not much content.
Walk from Spello to Assisi via the summit of Mount Subasio.
Train to Rome; wander around the Coliseum and the
Arch of Constantine
then go skating in Marino.
The Princess Diana funeral, like everyone else; get acquainted with the
Roman walls and gates of Spello.
Spello: visit the churches of
S. Maria della Misericordia
and
S. Maria Maddalena
Spello: visit the
Cappella Tega
then walk to an Internet service provider in Foligno and back; finish the day by visiting the churches of
S. Anna
and
S. Ventura

Sep. 26: a major earthquake hits Umbria, waking us up at 2:30 in the morning. We visit Montefalco. Today: Spello is pretty much abandoned. We check around though and, finding little damage and no order to leave, stay put. |
