During the first half of the month, I was still living in Todi and walking thru Umbria despite colder weather.

Walk to Montecastello di Vibio.

Visit St. Francis's cave at the Eremo delle Carceri near Assisi.
November 3
Continued report of my visit to Assisi: the Duomo, the Basilica; S. Maria degli Angeli: the Porziuncola (on the 2nd); a fast walk from the Lateran to the Colosseum, and some skating in Marino.
November 4
Walk in and around Acquasparta.
November 5
Continued report of my walk around Acquasparta, then on to Portaria and Cesi (on the 4th); walk to Torrececcona, S. Illuminata, the abbey of S. Fidenzio.

Visit Rieti: the church of S. Agostino, the Museo del Duomo, the mysterious Roman bridge, a simple lunch; a double rainbow in Terni.

An unfocused sort of day.

Long walk in central Umbria: a stolen bag.

Spontaneous side-trip to Viterbo which I visit in the rain and where I wind up having to stay overnight.

Viterbo by good weather and back to Todi.

Nothing much recorded today.

Last walk in Umbria (on the 13th): Torreluca, Casemasce; surprise my landlady who drives me to Titignano and Quadro; also, an evening at Todi's theater to see Shakespeare in Italian. Today, skating in Marino and shopping in Rome.

Leave Todi for Rome.
November 16
Last day in Rome; last skating lesson with Giampiero.
November 17
Fly back to Chicago. My seat neighbor, a young Mormon missionary, talks about his experiences in Uganda.
