Military History. — Cadet at the Military Academy, July 1, 1835, to July 1, 1839, when he was graduated and promoted in the Army to Second Lieut., 2d Artillery, July 1, 1839. Served: on the Northern Frontier, at Buffalo, N. Y., 1839‑41, during Canada Border Disturbances; at the Military Academy, as Asst. Instructor of Artillery and Infantry Tactics, Aug. 6, 1841, to Aug. 31, 1844; and in garrison at Ft. Columbus, N. Y., 1844‑45. Resigned, Mar. 26, 1846. Civil History. — Merchant, West Point, N. Y., 1846‑51, — and at San Francisco, Cal., 1851‑87. Major-General, California Militia, Apr. 24, 1862, to 18–––. Died, Dec. 5, 1887, at San Rafael, Cal.: Aged 70. |
