Ordnance Officer at Watervliet Arsenal, N. Y., 1840‑41, — at Watertown Arsenal, Mas., 1841, — at St. Louis Arsenal, (Second Lieut., Ordnance, Mar. 27, 1842) Mo., 1841‑44, 1844‑45, — and at Ft. Monroe Arsenal, Va., 1845‑46; in the War with Mexico, 1846‑48, in command of Ordnance Depot at Point (First Lieut., Ordnance, Mar. 3, 1847) Isabel, Tex., 1846‑47, — and at Monterey, 1847‑48; as Asst. Ordnance Officer at St. Louis Arsenal, Mo., 1848‑49; in command of Baton Rouge Arsenal, La., 1849; as Asst. Ordnance Officer at St. Louis Arsenal, Mo., 1849‑50; in command of Mount Vernon Arsenal, Ala., 1850‑51; as Asst. Ordnance Officer at St. Louis Arsenal, Mo., 1851‑52; in command of San Antonio Ordnance Depot, Tex., 1852‑58, — and Texas Arsenal, (Captain, Ordnance, July 1, 1854, for Fourteen Years' Continuous Service) 1857‑58; on Foundry duty, 1858‑59; as Asst. Ordnance Officer at Allegheny Arsenal, Pa., 1859‑60; on leave of absence in Europe, 1860; and as Asst. Ordnance Officer at Allegheny Arsenal, Pa., 1860‑61. Served during the Rebellion of the Seceding States, 1861‑66: as Ordnance Officer in fitting out Port Royal Expedition, Sep. to Nov., 1861; in command of Leavenworth Arsenal, Kan., Dec. 7, 1861, to Aug. 12, 1866; (Major, Ordnance, Sep. 12, 1864) (Bvt. Lieut.‑Col, Mar. 13, 1865, for Faithful Services in the Ordnance Department) and as Chief of Ordnance of the Department of Kansas, Dec. 7, 1861, to Feb. 9, 1865. Served: in command of Leavenworth Arsenal, Kan., Aug. 12, 1866, to Oct. 1, 1869; as Chief of Ordnance of the Department of the Missouri, Feb. 13, 1867, to Nov., 1869; and in command of Columbus Arsenal, O., Nov. 19, 1869, to Nov. 18, 1875, — and of Washington Arsenal, D. C., (Lieut.‑Colonel, Ordnance, June 23, 1874) Nov. 18, 1875, to May 27, 1878.
Retired from Active Service, May 27, 1878,
Died, Mar. 28, 1881, at Paris, France: Aged 62. |
