Served: at the Cavalry School for Practice, Carlisle, Pa., 1841‑42; on frontier duty at Ft. Atkinson, Io., 1842, — Sac and Fox Agency, Io., 1842, — Ft. Atkinson, Io., 1842‑43, — Scouting against Winnebago Indians, 1843, — Ft. Atkinson, Io., 1843‑45, — Expedition to Lac-qui‑parle, 1845,

(First Lieut., 1st Dragoons, June 30, 1846)

— and Ft. Atkinson, Io., 1845;​a on Recruiting service, 1845‑46; and in the War with Mexico, 1846‑47.

Died, Oct. 18, 1847, at Vera Cruz, Mex.: Aged 28.

a At Fort Atkinson, he was charged with removing illegal white squatters from Indian lands: see Iowa Journal of History and Politics, XIV.510, in which he is mentioned.
