Military History. — Cadet at the Military Academy, July 1, 1837, to July 1, 1841, when he was graduated and promoted in the Army to Second Lieut., 3d Infantry, July 1, 1841. Served: in the Florida War, 1841‑42; in garrison at Ft. Stansbury, Fla., 1842, — and Jefferson Barracks, Mo., 1843. Resigned, Dec. 31, 1843. Civil History. — Planter, Pocotaligo, S. C., 1844‑56. Deputy Surveyor of the State of South Carolina, 1847‑56. Captain, South Carolina Militia, 1849‑52. Clerk in U. S. Custom House, Charleston, S. C., 1856‑61. Died, Aug. 17, 1862, at Winnsborough, S. C.: Aged 42. |
