Warren, Boston Harbor, Mas., Dec. 27, 1865, to Jan. 31, 1866; on Recruiting service at Salem, Mas., Nov. 23 to Dec. 27, (Major, 4th Artillery, Dec. 11, 1865) 1865; in garrison at Portsmouth, N. McHenry, Md., Dec. 12, 1868, to May 1, 1869 (commanding, Dec. 12, 1868, to Mar. 17, 1869); in command of Ft. Delaware, May 5, 1869, to Feb., 1870, — Ft. Macon, N. C., Feb. 24, 1870, to Nov., 1872, — Sitka, Alaska, Jan., 1873, to Apr. 20, 1874, — and Presidio, Cal., May 8 to June 17, 1875; in arrest, Nov. 28, 1874, to June 17, 1875; suspended from rank and command and confined, at Yerba Buena Island, Cal., June 17, 1875, to June 17, 1876; awaiting orders, June 17 to Sep. 9, 1876; and in command of Ft. Canby, Wash., Sep. 20, 1876 (scouting (Lieut.‑Colonel, 3d Artillery, July 18, 1879) against Bannock Indians, June 4 to Aug. 14, 1878), to Aug. 19, 1879.
