Military History. — Cadet at the Military Academy, July 1, 1838, to July 1, 1842, when he was graduated and promoted in the Army to Bvt. Second Lieut., 1st Dragoons, July 1, 1842. Served: at the Cavalry School for Practice, Carlisle, Pa., 1842; on frontier duty at Ft. Croghan, Tex., 1843, — Ft. Leavenworth, Kan., (Second Lieut., 1st Dragoons, Dec. 31, 1843) 1843‑44, — Ft. Des Moines, Io., 1844‑45, — Lac-qui‑parle, Min., 1845, — Ft. Des Moines, Io., 1845‑46, — and Ft. Leavenworth, Kan., 1846; in the (First Lieut., 1st Dragoons, Dec. 6, 1846) War with Mexico, 1846‑47; on frontier duty at Ft. Gibson, I. T., 1847; and in the War with Mexico, 1848. Died, Dec. 27, 1848, at Abbeville, S. C.: Aged 27. |
