Military History. — Cadet at the Military Academy, July 1, 1838, to July 1, 1842, when he was graduated and promoted in the Army to Bvt. Second Lieut., 1st Infantry, July 1, 1842. Served: on frontier duty at Ft. Atkinson, Io., 1842‑43; in garrison at Ft. Marion, Fla., 1843‑44; on frontier duty at Ft. Snelling, Min., (Second Lieut., 8th Infantry, July 1, 1843) (Transferred to 1st Infantry, July 8, 1844) 1844‑46; on Recruiting service, 1846‑48; on frontier duty at Ft. Snelling, Min., 1848; in transferring Winnebago Indians, 1848; and on frontier duty at Ft. Snelling, Min., 1848‑49. Died, Apr. 11, 1849, near Victoria, Tex.: Aged 29. |
