Military History. — Cadet at the Military Academy, July 1, 1844, to July 1, 1848, when he was graduated and promoted in the Army to Bvt. Second Lieut., 4th Artillery, July 1, 1848. Served: in garrison at Ft. Monroe, Va., 1848, — Ft. Brooke, Fla., 1848‑49, — Key West, Fla., 1849; in Florida Hostilities against the Seminole (Second Lieut., 4th Artillery, May 16, 1849) Indians, 1849; removing Indians, Nov. 23, 1849, to May 21, 1851; in garrison at Ft. Washington, Md., 1851; as Aide-de‑Camp to Bvt. Brig.‑General Walbach, and Acting Asst. Adjutant-General, 3d Military Department, Aug. 3, 1851, to Aug. 1, 1852, at Baltimore, Md.; in garrison at Ft. Hamilton, N. Y., 1852‑53; on duty under Indian Department, (First Lieut., 4th Artillery, Oct. 8, 1853) May 20, 1853, to Jan. 1, 1856; and on sick leave of absence, 1856. Died, Nov. 16, 1856, near Geneva, N. Y.: Aged 28. |
