Military History. — Cadet at the Military Academy, July 1, 1843, to July 1, 1848, when he was graduated and promoted in the Army to Bvt. Second Lieut., 6th Infantry, July 1, 1848. Served: in garrison at Ft. Snelling, Min., 1848‑49; on leave of absence, (Second Lieut., 2d Infantry, Mar. 10, 1849) 1850‑52; on frontier duty at Ft. Yuma, Cal., 1852, — San Diego, (First Lieut., 2d Infantry, Feb. 23, 1852) Cal., 1852, — and Benicia, Cal., 1853‑54; as Quartermaster, 2d Infantry, May 24, 1853, to May 1, 1856; on duty at Washington, D. C., 1854, — and Panama, New Granada, 1854; in garrison at Carlisle Barracks, Pa., 1854; on Recruiting service, 1854‑55; in garrison at Carlisle Barracks, Pa.; on frontier duty, conducting recruits to Ft. Randall, Dak., 1856, — and at Ft. Lookout, Dak., 1856‑57; and on Quartermaster duty (Captain, Staff — Asst. Quartermaster, Dec. 26, 1856) with Army in Utah, 1858‑59. Died, Apr. 18, 1859, at Camp Floyd, Utah: Aged 34. Buried, Camp Floyd Cemetery, Fairfield, UT. |
