Andrew Galbraith Miller: Born Dec. 21, 1827, Gettysburg, PA. Military History. — Cadet at the Military Academy, July 1, 1843, to July 1, 1848, when he was graduated and promoted in the Army to Bvt. Second Lieut., 6th Infantry, July 1, 1848. Served: on frontier duty at Ft. Duncan, Tex., 1849‑50, — convoying (Second Lieut., 1st Infantry, Apr. 11, 1849) train to Ft. Bliss, Tex., 1850, — Ft. Duncan, Tex., 1850‑51, — Ft. McIntosh, (First Lieut., 1st Infantry, May 1, 1852) Tex., 1851‑53, — and Ft. Duncan, Tex., 1854; on Recruiting (Captain, 1st Infantry, Feb. 11, 1856) service, 1854‑56; and on frontier duty at Ft. Chadbourne, Tex., 1856‑57. Resigned, Oct. 31, 1857. Civil History. — Auditor of Milwaukee and Mississippi Railroad Company, 1857‑61. Military History. — Served during the Rebellion of the Seceding (Lieut.‑Colonel, 1st Maryland Cavalry Volunteers, Dec. 20, 1861) States, 1861‑62: at Camp Carroll, Md., Dec. 20, 1861, to Mayº 22, 1862. Resigned, Mar.º 22, 1862. Civil History. — Unknown. Died, Oct. 21, 1865, at Milwaukee, Wis.: Aged 38. Buried, Forest Home Cemetery, Milwaukee, WI. |
