William Anderson Nimmo: Born Dec. 1, 1827, Robertson Co., TN. Military History. — Cadet at the Military Academy, July 1, 1845, to July 1, 1849, when he was graduated and promoted in the Army to Bvt. Second Lieut., 4th Artillery, July 1, 1849. Served: on frontier duty at Ringgold Barracks, Tex., 1849; in Florida Hostilities against the Seminole Indians, 1850; in garrison at East (Second Lieut., 4th Artillery, Apr. 30, 1850) Pascagoula, Mis., 1850, — Ft. Washington, Md., 1850‑53, — Ft. Independence, (First Lieut., 4th Artillery, Dec. 18, 1854) p379 Mas., 1853‑54, — Ft. Brown, Tex., 1854‑55, — and Ringgold Barracks, Tex., 1855; and on sick leave of absence, 1855‑56. Died, Mar. 12, 1856, at Robertson City,º Ten.: Aged 28. Buried, Nimmo Cemetery, Robertson Co., TN. |
