Served: in garrison at Sackett's Harbor, N. Y., 1850‑51; on frontier

(Second Lieut., 2d Infantry, June 11, 1851)

duty at Ft. Miller, Cal., 1851‑52, — Benicia, Cal., 1852, — Ft. Miller, Cal., 1852‑53, — Benicia, Cal., 1853, — Ft. Lane, Or., 1853, — and Ft. Jones, Cal., 1853; on Recruiting service, 1853‑54; at the Cavalry School for Practice, Carlisle, Pa., 1854; and on frontier duty at Ft. Ripley, Min., 1854‑55.

Resigned, May 31, 1855.

a Lt. Colcord's middle name and birthdate are from his Find-a‑Grave page, ultimate source unknown; his birthdate is approximately confirmed, however, by the Official Register of Officers and Cadets of the U. S. Military Academy (OROC) for 1847, which gives his age at admission July 1, 1846, as 20 years 7 months.

b According to his page at Find-a‑Grave, q.v., Lt. Colcord enlisted on the Union side during the War between the States, as a private: once in the Marine Corps, and once in the Army.
