Born Feb. 26, 1833. Military History. — Cadet at the Military Academy, July 1, 1849, to July 1, 1853, when he was graduated and promoted in the Army to Bvt. Second Lieut. of Dragoons, July 1, 1853. Served: on frontier duty in Operations against the Indians in Washington Territory, 1854‑55, — Ft. Lane, Or., 1855‑56, — Ft. Tejon, Cal., (Second Lieut., 1st Dragoons, Oct. 22, 1854) (First Lieut., 1st Dragoons, Sep. 8, 1855) 1856, — and Benicia, Cal., 1857. Resigned, June 20, 1857. Civil History. — Aide-de‑Camp, with the rank of Lieut.‑Colonel, to Governor Allston, of South Carolina, 1857‑58. Rice Planter on the Pedee River, S. C., 1857‑61. Joined in the Rebellion of 1861‑66 against the United States.a Civil History. — Rice Planter on the Pedee River, S. C., since 1866. Deacon of the Protestant Episcopal Church, 1877, to 18–––, and Priest, since 18–––. Vol. IV Civil History. — Clergyman P. E. Church, Winnsboro, S. C., since 1877. — Rector of Prince Fredericks and Prince George, Wingate. — Rector of Church of Nativity, Union, S. C., from 1890 to 1896. — Rector of St. John's, Winnsboro, May, 1896, to Jan., 1900. Died Jan. 15, 1900, at Winnsboro, S. C.: Aged 68. Buried, St. John's Episcopal Cemetery, Winnsboro, SC. |

As with other Confederate officers, Cullum's Register omits his war record: according to the Southern Historical Society Papers he was appointed Colonel in the 4th Alabama Infantry, and served as Adjutant-General to Lieut.‑General E. Kirby Smith, Trans-Mississippi Department.
