Reuben Reddick Ross: Born Apr. 17, 1830, Montgomery County, TN.

Military History. — Cadet at the Military Academy, July 1, 1849, to July 1, 1853, when he was graduated and promoted in the Army to

Bvt. Second Lieut. of Infantry, July 1, 1853.

Served in garrison at Newport Barracks, Ky., 1853.

Resigned, Jan. 24, 1854.

Civil History. — Asst. Engineer, Mississippi and Tennessee Railroad, 1854. Principal of Clarksville Academy, Ten., 1855‑61.

Joined in the Rebellion of 1861‑66 against the United States.​a

Killed (resisting Capture), Dec. 16, 1864, at Hopkinsville, Ky.: Aged 34.

Buried, Meriwether Cemetery, Guthrie, KY.

a As with other Confederate officers, Cullum's Register omits his war record: according to the Southern Historical Society Papers he attained the temporary rank of Brig.‑General in 1864, and commanded a cavalry brigade in Indicates a West Point graduate, Class of 1859: a link to his biographical entry in Cullum's Register.Wheeler's Corps, Army of Tennessee.
