Charles Geddings Rogers: Born 1830.

Military History. — Cadet at the Military Academy, Sep. 1, 1850, to July 1, 1854, when he was graduated and promoted in the Army to

Second Lieut. of Dragoons, July 1, 1854.

Served: on frontier duty at Ft. Leavenworth, Kan., 1854‑55.

Resigned, Feb. 1, 1855.

Civil History. — Professor of Mathematics, Giles College, Pulaski, Ten., 1856‑61.

Joined in the Rebellion of 1861‑66 against the United States.​a

Civil History. — Professor of Mathematics and Natural Science, Giles College, Pulaski, Ten., 1869‑79. School Teacher, Memphis, Ten., 1866‑69, and at Nashville, Ten., 1879‑88.

Died Feb. 24, 1888, Nashville, Ten.: Aged 57.

Buried, Maplewood Cemetery, Pulaski, TN.


Thayer's Note:

a As with other Confederate officers, Cullum's Register omits his war record. According to William L. Clements Library at the University of Michigan, which has among its holdings a small journal he kept from February to May, 1865 (q.v.), he served in the cavalry of the Army of the Tennessee.
