Served: in garrison at Jefferson Barracks, Mo., 1855; and on frontier duty at Ft. Mason, Tex., 1856, — Camp Verde, Tex., 1856‑57, — Scouting, 1857, being engaged against Comanche Indians in a Skirmish near Camp Verde, Tex., Oct. 29, 1857, — Camp Verde, Tex., 1857‑58, — Scouting, 1858, — Camp Verde, Tex., 1858, — Ft. Mason, Tex., 1858, — Ft. Belknap, Tex., 1858, — and Wichita Expedition, Tex., being engaged against Comanche Indians in a Combat near Wichita Village, Tex., Oct. 1, 1858, where, by an arrow, he was shot through the heart, while gallantly charging the enemy.

Killed, Oct. 1, 1858, in the Combat near Wichita Village, Tex.: Aged 24.

Buried, Lancaster Cemetery, Lancaster, PA.
