a Fernando Birch died after the publication of Vol. IX (1950), the most recent volume of the Supplements to Cullum's Register available to me, which may also be the most recent volume in the public domain. The date of his death, with a photograph of him, is given on a placeholder page at the West Point Association of Graduates (where the place of his death and that of his burial, however, are incorrect: see the page at Find-a‑Grave).
