Military History. — Cadet at the Military Academy, July 1, 1853, to July 1, 1857, when he was graduated and promoted in the Army to Bvt. Second Lieut., Mounted Riflemen, July 1, 1857. Served: at the Cavalry School for Practice, Carlisle, Pa., 1857‑58; (Second Lieut., Mounted Riflemen, Oct. 26, 1857) and on frontier duty at Ft. Thorn, N. M., 1858, — Scouting in Navajo Country, N. M., 1858‑59, — Ft. Defiance, N. M., 1859, — Ft. Fillmore, N. M., 1859, — Expedition against Pinal Apaches, 1859‑60, being engaged in a Skirmish near Ft. Buchanan, N. M., Dec. 3, 1860, — Ft. Fillmore, N. M., 1860, — Scouting, 1860‑61, — Ft. Union, N. M., 1861, — Scouting, 1861, — and Ft. Stanton, N. M., 1861. Resigned, May 12, 1861. Joined in the Rebellion of 1861‑66 against the United States.a Civil History. — Planter, Colorado County, Tex., 18–––. Died, 187—, near Eagle Lake, Colorado County, Tex. |
a As with other Confederate officers, Cullum's Register omits his war record: according to the Southern Historical Society Papers he commanded the 5th Texas Cavalry, Thomas Green's Brigade, Trans-Mississippi Department, with the rank of Colonel.
