Civil History. — School Teacher in Putnam County, Ind., 1859‑61.

Military History. — Served during the Rebellion of the Seceding States, 1861‑65, as First Lieutenant and Adjutant of an Indiana three-months Volunteer Regiment in Western Virginia, 1861, and subsequently as a private of Indiana Volunteers, 1863‑65.

Civil History. — School Teacher, Cumberland County, Ill., 1865‑68. Principal of School in Coles County, Ill., 1868‑71; and of Lee's Academy, Stockton, Ill., 1871‑77. Degree of A. M. conferred by Indiana State University, 1874. Superintendent of Schools for Coles County, Ill., 1877‑88.

Died Nov. 28, 1888, at Loxa, Ill.: Aged 54.
